In-office*

~Coming together in-person fuels creativity, cultivates our culture, enables communication and strengthens team bonds.
</aside>
- We are an in-office team by default. Coming together fuels creativity, strengthens bonds, and builds momentum. Everyone will have personal needs that pull them away at times — that’s normal and supported.
- ⏰ Hours → Core working hours are 9:30–7, where the expectation is to be online and responsive. You can flex your in-office hours within that window — the key is maximizing overlap with the team. Breaks for things like kid pickups or quick errands are totally fine, just aim to come back online afterward.
It’s a startup: the expectation is that everyone works hard. But it’s also a marathon — so give your best, then go rest.
- 🧾 Life Admin → Our default is to plan things like doctor visits, package deliveries, and errands outside of core working hours. But life is hard and will always get in the way sometimes — and that’s OK too. Just give a heads-up and plan around it when you can.
- 🤒 Sick Days → If you’re sick, please stay home to rest and avoid spreading anything to the team. Light WFH is okay if you feel up to it, but prioritizing recovery is best.
- ✈️ Travel & PTO → Short remote stints (1–3 days) are fine; longer ones should be rare and aligned with managers (see OOO guidelines)
*****Note that our Platform/DataMover team are the only remote team — given the nature of their work.
Use of #office channel
- Openly communicate in the #office channel if there’s a reason that you’ll be offline for a lengthy period of time.
- You don’t need to share if/when you’re running late and/or leaving early, unless it’s impacting other people’s collaboration with you.
Caring for our shared space
- You can read more about our workspace here.
- We are all expected to chip in and keep our space clean, tidy and friendly. That means being the first to empty the garbage if you see it’s full, replace the water dispenser if you see it ran out or tidy up rubbish if it’s laying around. If something requires maintenance, reach out to our superintendent.
- If you see something you’d like to change in the space, share it in #office and proactively change it. That includes furniture, decorations, or even temperature control (if you’re feeling cold/hot, voice it and get consensus then go ahead and change it if people want it to change).
